Putting ReSound Nexia to the test in some of the most challenging locations for hearing in noise

Hearing in noisy environments is one of the biggest challenges faced by individuals with hearing loss. The clink of glasses, overlapping conversations and background music can turn social situations into daunting experiences, rather than enjoyable ones. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by GN, 1 in 3 hearing aid wearers make excuses not to go out because of the impact noisy environments will have on their enjoyment and would prefer to stay at home instead.[i]

That's why ReSound Nexia was designed to empower individuals to reclaim their social lives without compromise and to transform the way they experience the world around them. By providing top-rated hearing performance in noise, ReSound Nexia ensures that lively venues and bustling gatherings are no longer off-limits for those with hearing loss.

Through our partnership with SoundPrint, whose research found that over 50% of venues globally are too loud for conversation,[ii] we enlisted four hearing aid users to put ReSound Nexia to the test in real-world environments. Now, we're thrilled to share their experiences, showcasing how their hearing aids are transforming lives and breaking down barriers in noisy environments.

Blake Cadwell, co-founder and CEO of Soundly (Los Angeles)

“ReSound Nexia is one of the premium products on the market and the feature of these hearing aids that is most impressive to me is their handling in background noise situations. ReSound Nexia gets really strong marks in these difficult situations. I’m not going to choose to go to an extremely loud background noise environment every night, but it was fun to do this test and to see what these hearings aids are really capable of.”

Jacob Kulick, recording artist and producer (Nashville)

“There are challenges that I face on a daily basis and being able to hear in a loud, busy environment is always a challenge as well as fatigue from having to spend so much energy trying to remain focused enough to have a conversation. It is also socially isolating at times as I miss out on a lot of what is happening around me. As a musician, I’m always networking and at loud venues but ReSound Nexia work really well in that environment, especially on stage with the monitors, the singing and the guitar.”

Lara Ricote, standup comedian (Los Angeles)

“I spend a lot of time in loud places because of my comedy career. I couldn’t hear what people were saying, it was uncomfortable and sometimes I thought: ‘I'd just rather leave than be in it’. But it's really not an issue anymore. I'm really, really happy with these hearing aids and I feel lucky to have them. They have changed my life for the better, the sound is crisp, and I can hear people speak even when a venue is insanely loud.”

Julie Slavin, DJ and radio personality (New York)

“I get to DJ parties all over the world. Surprisingly it’s not the music I have trouble with, it’s talking to people in the loud environment. But with the right tech, I don’t have to compromise on how I do my job or how I enjoy life.”

At GN, we remain committed to supporting those struggling with hearing in noise and encouraging more individuals to embark on their hearing journey. ReSound Nexia can help overcome common pain points reported by hearing aid wearers and be a bridge to greater social connectivity and participation, regardless of the venue.
